Goings On: Paris

Since I'll be spending the next 2 weekends in Paris I thought it was time to post some happenings around the city of lights for the coming weeks.

FĂȘte de la Musique - World Music Day  ~ 21 June

On Saturday, there are hundreds, if not thousands of free music events and venues around the city as well as in the streets, as Paris celebrates the FĂȘte de la Musique. For more info visit the website. The program is a searchable database of all events in France so type in your arrondissement to find events near you. For example, here is a listing of events in my hood.

There seems to be so much going on with this music festival, it's a bit overwhelming to me. But I'm hoping that we can just wander around the city and hopefully stumble on some great acts. I'll let you know how it goes.

Paris Jazz Festival ~ June through July

The Paris Jazz Festival takes place every weekend in June and July at the Parc Floral in Chateau de Vincennes. If you haven't been to the Parc Floral, it's really worth a visit. When the French do parks they are no joke. It's gorgeous and a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon (hopefully the sun comes back).

Brings some friends, blankets, a bottle of wine and a baguette or two, and head over there this weekend. Especially if the weather in nice.  Some English information about the performers can be foundry clicking here (and scrolling down to the english part).

Gay Pride Parade ~ 28 June

In French it's Marche des Fiertes.  See this colorful event take place on the 28th of June. It begins at 14:00 from Luxembourg and continues to Republique along the route below.

The Peacock Society ~ 11-12 July

Another event in the Parc Floral, but this one is a bit different.  It's a house and techno music festival that goes all night long. Tickets are available here. I'll be there Friday night for Richie Hawtin and Claptone, what about you?

  4. I'm glad for you that you can travel a lot. I've read the article on hirewriters.com about how traveling can help you to broaden your mind and help you in your self-development. You feel more free and confident when you visit more countries.
